Just opposite the Museum of Modern Art but in the more quiet area, here is a place where you will be received graciously in a modern and beautiful restaurant. The ambience and cuisine are certainly worth the detour.

Chez Pipo

A lively port-side spot, with a huge wood-burning oven and long tables where old timers gossip in Nicois dialect. The perfect place for an early evening snack on socca and a glass of local rosse.

Try some regional specialties, order the specialty at Chez Pipo called socca ( a kind of soft crêpe made from chickpea flour ), opened in 1923 based in the port distric. Chez Pipo is known as the best socca in Nice; never too greasy, and fresh from the oven. Wine is available by the glass and there is a good home-made Tiramisù that is worth saving room for.

This restaurant does not take reservations so it is a good idea to get here early and beat the crowds, or be prepared to wait!

Renowned Nicois chef Christian Plumail has transformed this former brasserie into an unpretentious haven for simple yet refined Mediterrranean cuisine at surprisingly affordable prices. Regulars rave about dishes such as purple artichoke salad with parmesan,, grilled fish with coriander, rabbit stew and macaroons with pine nuts and mascarpone.

The Safari’s terrace fills quickly n market days, but it’s pleasent inside, too. Food on offer includes pizza cooked in awood oven, Nicois specialities such as ravioli stuffed with braised beef in beef stock, a salade Nicoise that defines the term and the Cascade Safari starter, assortment including grilled red peppers, accra, artichoke salad and squid beignets.

This venerable restaurant draws colourful locals at noon, top models and cinema stars by night. Start with the Nicois hors d’oeuvres-pissaladiere, stuffed vegetables, courgette and aubergine beignets, ect- and then have sea bass coocked in a salt crust. The house ice cream is the best in town. Wear something Champagne-proof, since patronne Ruby tends to spray customers when in a playful mood.
