Things to do in Nice, France

It’s very easy to get a feel of the layout of the city of Nice where locals get up early to buy baskets of vine tomatoes, perfect peaches and wild mushrooms at the daily market. On Sundays, families roam the promenade des Anglais en masses on bicycles or rollerblades or pushing strollers. Young trendies are moving back into Vieux Nice (Old Town) and the distinctive local dialect Nissart is enjoying a revival with bilingual streets names, bi-monthly magazine, Nice has a surge of cultural attractions, boosted by the new Palais Nikaia and redynamised summer jazz festival, and a youthful nightlife: if you are up until dawn, check out the early-opening bars by the market, where you will find sun-wizened farmers about to set up their wares quietly sipping espresso beside bleary-eyed clubbers.

Over the years, the International Semi-Marathon of Nice, France has grown in order to become one of the most important sports events on the French Riviera. This edition welcomes you from 17th April to 20th April on the famous Promenade des Anglais.

Thanks to the faithful support of the city of Nice and of the Regional Council Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur invites you to take part in a festive event over 3 days next to the 8,000 expected runners from France and abroad. (16% participation of the runners from abroad in 2007).

The success is due to the collaboration between Azur Sport Organization and the departments of the City of Nice, our private partners and our promotion on the stands of the most important running events all over the year in France but also in Europe.

2008 will be a year rich in colours which reserves many surprises and novelties: a new distance 100% Flat and the price of the performance for the men and the women for the distance of 21,1km.

Refer to the races, 4 races are proposed: the most famous one is the 21,1km, the 10km, but also a free race for the children between 9 and 15 years old -the 2km “Défi Running Collèges” -and the popular 3km “Tout Nice Court Contre le cancer du sein “that supports the action against the Breast Cancer with the association Résiste 06.
